SECULAR FUNERAL

Home

Welcome to SecularFuneral.co.uk. the site that will hopefully help those who are considering a secular funeral for themselves or a loved one or friend; in particular to introduce more people to the relatively new concept of a Civil Funeral ceremony. Although commonplace in Australia; the British public are beginning to realise that there is an alternative to a religious or atheist Funeral Ceremony.

I am Marc Oxley a Civil Funeral Celebrant, living and working in Rutland, Englands smallest and most beautiful County, in my humble opinion. Click on this link to find out how to contact me.

Since qualifying as a Civil Funeral Celebrant in March 2006 and subsequently becoming an accredited member of the Institute of Civil Funeral Celebrants, I have officiated at nearly 100 Funerals.

Whilst the majority have been at Crematoria in Peterborough, Grantham and Kettering I had the privilege of using Harringworth Church and Churchyard for one ceremony as well as Ketton Park Green Burial Site for 9 others.

I have also been the celebrant at a Hindu Civil Funeral.

Sizes of congregations have ranged from 5 to 300. All the ceremonies have been well received.

I was made a Founding Fellow of the Society of Bereavement Practitioners, in the spring of 2010, serving on the Board as Secular and Civil Funeral Consultant. I am also Regional Officer for the Midlands and East of England.

Currently 10 Funeral Directors have used me for Civil Funerals.

In Uppingham, Oakham, Stamford, Bourne, Nottingham, Birmingham and Leicester.

I have worked in the Funeral Industry since 2004, so have wide experience of what a Funeral entails.

Finally I am proud to have recently been elected on to the National Council of the Institute of Civil Funerals.

One of 15 tasked with taking the Institute to the next level. I am passionate about the concept of Civil Funerals and hope to help raise the profile of the Institute amongst the wider community.

The Institute of Civil Funerals is proud of the reputation it has been able to attain in a relatively short time and is determined to keep up the good work. It now has over 150 fully qualified Civil Funeral Celebrants working in the UK. For more information contact the Institute at www.iocf.org.uk

The Institute is a member of  The Society of Allied and Independant Funeral Directors, The National Association of Funeral Directors and is a Corporate Member of  The Society of  Bereavement Practitioners.
